كان الليل باردًا، والمطر يضرب نافذة غرفتنا القديمة كأن السماء تحاول أن توقظ شيئًا في داخلي.
أمي نائمة في الغرفة المجاورة، متعبة من عملها الطويل في المخبز. أما أبي، فلم يعد يزور إلا نادرًا — زيارات قصيرة، متوترة، كأنها واجب ثقيل أكثر من كونها حنينًا.
في قلبي، لم أعد أفرق بين الحقيقة والخيال، كل ما أعرفه أنني… لا أريد أن أتوقف عن سماعها.
كنت أجلس أمام المرآة. نفس المرآة التي كنا أنا وAlisha نقف أمامها لنضحك على وجوهنا المتشابهة، ونبدّل الأدوار.
أتذكّر يوم قالت لي ضاحكة:
هل كانت هنا فعلًا؟ أم أن الحنين بدأ يخلق لي عالمًا آخر؟
“لو يومًا غبت عنك، انظر في المرآة، بتلقاني فيك.”

في تلك الليلة، وبعد سنوات من رحيلها، عدت أنظر في المرآة كما أمرتني.
كانت الغرفة مظلمة إلا من نور خافت يأتي من الشارع.
نظرت إلى عينيّ — وفي لحظةٍ قصيرة جدًا… رأيت ظلًّا خلفي.
نظرت إليّ طويلاً، بعينٍ يملؤها الحزن أكثر من الشك. ثم جلست بجانبي وقالت بصوتٍ مبحوح:
ظننت أنه انعكاس ضوء، لكن الظل لم يتحرك مع جسدي.
بل كان صغيرًا… بنفس طولها وهي في الثانية عشرة.
همست دون أن أشعر:

لكنني لم أصدق. في تلك الليلة، لم أنم. وبينما كانت أمي تغفو من جديد، جلست أمام المرآة حتى الفجر، أراقبها، أنتظر أن تعود الكلمات… أو يعود الصوت.
لم يجبني أحد. فقط المرآة كانت ترتجف كأنها تأنّ.
ثم سمعته — الصوت الذي كنت أظنه خيالًا:
هل كانت هنا فعلًا؟ أم أن الحنين بدأ يخلق لي عالمًا آخر؟
“Van… ما تبكِ. أنا هنا.”
في قلبي، لم أعد أفرق بين الحقيقة والخيال، كل ما أعرفه أنني… لا أريد أن أتوقف عن سماعها.
قلبي تجمّد. الصوت كان واضحًا، قريبًا جدًا، وكأنه يتحدث من داخل صدري.
نظرت حولي، لا أحد. عدت إلى المرآة، فوجدت البخار يزحف على سطحها رغم برودة الغرفة.
وبخطٍ صغيرٍ متردد، كأن يدًا غير مرئية رسمت، ظهرت كلمات:
نظرت إليّ طويلاً، بعينٍ يملؤها الحزن أكثر من الشك. ثم جلست بجانبي وقالت بصوتٍ مبحوح:
“لا تتركني أنطفئ في النسيان.”
همست دون أن أشعر:
صرخت، فسقطت الكرسيّ خلفي، ودخلت أمي مسرعة، شعرها مبعثر وعيناها نصف مغمضتين.
سألتني وهي تمسكني بذراعَيها:
“لو يومًا غبت عنك، انظر في المرآة، بتلقاني فيك.”
