لقد قالت كلير إنها توكل الأمر إليّ. والآن بعد رحيلها، أصبحتُ أنا الوحيد الذي يملك أدنى فرصة لهزيمته. ولكن، كيف لي أن أنتصر؟ إن قوة كاين تفوق قوة الإفرِيْت، ولا أرى أي سبيل للانتصار عليه.

بدأت الحفر في الأرض، والأزهار المتفحمة، والبركة التي تبخر ماؤها، والسقف المحطم، كلها تعود إلى حالتها الأصلية الواحدة تلو الأخرى. كانت تلك هي المرة الأولى التي أرى فيها غرفة الزعيم وهي تستعيد هيئتها الأصلية بهذا الشكل. وفي غضون ثوانٍ معدودة، عاد المكان إلى ما كان عليه تمامًا عندما وطأته أقدامنا أول مرة.

رد باستهزاء: “ياللعجب. أليس الغزاة أمثالكم لا يزالون هنا؟ من المنطقي إذن أن يظهر الزعيم مجددًا للقضاء عليكم.”
“حسنًا. بهذا لن يتكرر ذلك الموقف الممل، حيث يقتحم متطفلٌ علينا خضم المعركة. كان بإمكاني أن أترك الإفرِيْت يقتلكم… ولكنها فرصة ثمينة، سأستحوذ أنا بنفسي على نقاط خبرة الكيانات من العالم الآخر.”
