ارتبك الثلاثة وشعروا بتوتر غريب تجاهه. كان حضوره طاغيًا يبعث إحساسًا غامضًا بعدم الارتياح.
ضحكَ جولينز بتهكم: «آسف أيها الشباب، لم آتِ إلى هنا من أجلكم، رغم أنني أستطيع قتلكم وسلب الأحجار متى شئت.» ثم بدأ يرقص بخفة وغرابة، وكأنه يسخر منهم.
لم يلبث ترافيس طويلًا حتى تغيرت ملامحه وتحولت دهشته إلى غضب وعيناه اشتعلتا بالكراهية فقبض يده بقوة، ثم قال بصوت حاد: «أنا أعرف هذا الرجل.. إنه زعيم منظمة تقتل وتسلب حاملي أحجار السريان، ويدعى “جولينز”. ثم نظر إلى باسل وحمزة: «لا تتدخلا في هذا القتال.. هذا بيني وبينه.»
وكردِّ فعلٍ من باسل تحرّك إلى الوراء بحذر. إلا أنه في تلك اللحظة اختفى وظهر خلف حمزة!
كان جولينز واقفًا بثبات، رأسه مرفوع نحو السماء وعيناه مغمضتان ويداه ممدودتان إلى جانبيه وكأنه غير مكترث بهم.

في تلك اللحظة اندفع ترافيس مهاجمًا إياه، إلا أن جولينز بقي ثابتًا. رفع إحدى بطاقاته بهدوء بين أصابعه، ثم نقر بإصبعين فاختفى من أمامهم ليظهر في موضع آخر قبل أن يختفي مجددًا.
نظر باسل إلى البطاقة التي في يده، مدركًا أنها تحمل تهديدًا صريحًا وإعلانًا عن حرب وشيكة.
أما باسل فبقي صامتًا يحاول استيعاب ما حدثَ.
«آهههها… بين البين»
ستة أيام فقط قبل أن يبدأ الغزو.

وقبل أن يتمكن حمزة من فعل شيء، اندفع ترافيس مجددًا محاولًا مهاجمته بكل قوته. لكن جولينز كان أسرع منه بكثير. فما إن اقترب الأخير حتى رفع جولينز يده وبحركة واحدة سريعة ضربه ببطاقة حادة في صدره، مما جعله يتراجع للخلف متألمًا. ثم بدأ يهاجمه بلا رحمة. ضربة بعد ضربة، بطاقة بعد بطاقة، جسد ترافيس كان يتلقى الجروح والضربات دون أن يتمكن من رد أي هجمة!
تراجع حمزة خطوة للخلف وقال بصوت يملؤه الخوف: «إنه سريع… وقوي جدًا!»
